Mariachi Imperial de America

Quality Live Mariachi Entertainment

Breaking News - August 2008

Mariachi Imperial de America, has just returned from a music-filled tour of Armenia under the auspices of the State Department and the United States Embassy in Armenia. Mariachi Imperial was the first mariachi band ever to perform in Armenia, with concerts in Yerevan, Gyumri, Vanadzor, Ijevan and Noyemberyan. Audiences reacted with enthusiasm to the mariachi music, dancing in the streets and roaring their approval - especially when the group played several popular Armenian folk-songs mariachi-style, which they developed especially for this tour.

The group first tried out its repertoire and the Armenian songs to members of St Kevork Armenian Apostolic Church in Houston. The members of Mariachi Imperial de America were overwhelmed by the enthusiasm and warmth of the Houston audience—and audiences in Armenia felt the same way about the group and their music. In addition to the formal concerts in Armenia, the band played wherever there was the opportunity, including the Cactus Restaurant in Yerevan (the only Mexican restaurant in Armenia).

Mariachi Imperial de America has been performing for about 20 years under the direction of Jose Longoria. Mariachi Imperial has conquered many people’s hearts through their wonderful music in Europe and various places in the USA. Mariachi Imperial has received various awards and accolades include winning 1st place at the Mariachi Vargas Extravaganza.

The band consists of family members as well as close friends. Its members represent various regions of Mexico including Guanajuato, Tamaulipas, Zacatecas, and San Luis Potosi. Band members’ dedication to bringing quality music and entertainment to audiences has made Mariachi Imperial a success. Their charisma and overall love for mariachi music distinguishes Mariachi Imperial from other mariachi groups. They transmit their enthusiasm and love for their music through their performances. They not only sing, but also dance and encourage audience participation. The band’s repertoire consists of a diverse mixture of music, which often includes theatrical imitations of various artists such as Juan Gabriel, Jose Alfredo Jimenez, and Vicente Fernandez.

Mariachi Imperial was voted “Houston’s Best Mariachi” by The Houston Press. They have appeared on Good Morning America and were part of the Selena Vive concert, a tribute to the late Selena Quintanilla at Houston’s Reliant Stadium. Mariachi Imperial has also had the opportunity to accompany renowned artists including Pepe Aguilar, Paulina Rubio, Bronco, Pablo Montero, Elsa Garcia, Bobby Pulido, Nydia Rojas, Beatriz Adriana, Roberto Pulido, Grupo Mazz, Maribel Guardia, Patricia Navidad, Lorena Herrera, Federicico Villa, Paulina Rubio and many more.

Mariachi Imperial’s greatest satisfaction comes from making people happy. Together, Mariachi Imperial strives to create cultural awareness by carrying on one of Mexico’s greatest traditions, and attempts to bring joy to many people’s lives.
